Message from Director

As the second decade of the twenty first century is coming to an end, the human society is still threatened by various phenomena and unfortunately the trends of changes in the environmental conditions shows more instability in many parts of the world. Of these, the population increase and economic developments that are not based on environmental and water protection fundamentals have had the largest impacts. The deterioration of the quality of water resources due to the presence of new synthetic pollutants underlines the importance of sound water management methods specifically the potable water that has direct impact on consumer well-being.

Considering the importance of research-based management and quality control of water resources, the Center for Water Quality Research (CWQR) was established in the Institute of Environmental Research (IER) of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2010.

Today, CWQR presents its action plan for the next 5 years taking into account the requirements of water sector in all parts of our country and also increasing cooperation in this field in regional and international level.

I should hereby thank all my colleagues who contributed in different activities of CWQR, specially for their precision. We hope that with the continuous support of all of the related organizations and the use of in-house and external scientific and research capabilities, CWQR continues to play an important role in the generation of research-based scientific data in the field of water and wastewater management.
